Bedroom Accents
If you’re looking to instantly boost character and comfort in your room, we’d suggest starting with soft furnishings. These accents are like the icing on the cake of your bedroom decor, literally the final layer on the bed and floor. Working in coordination, a throw pillow, throw blanket, and throw rug do wonders to aesthetically complete the room’s decor. They’re not just for display, ideally these accents should be soft and cuddle-able.
Pop of Vibrancy
This bedroom design idea is about bringing a joyful uplift to the bedroom. The focal point is a bold decorative accent, like a patterned throw blanket or a throw rug. Keeping the other accents neutral helps soften the look.

Cozy Calm
Deep colors and rich texture create a relaxed coziness in this bedroom design idea. Tried and true staples, such as quilts and rag rugs, evoke a familiar comfort of laidback New England summers or autumns by the fire.

Balanced Boho
Eclectic touches are balanced out by solid accents in this bedroom design idea. Select one or two bold accents like a kilim rug or a richly patterned bedspread, then finish it off with solid accents. Keep the look unified through a color palette using tones of the colors to prevent it from being too matchy matchy.

Basic Bedding
For us the stars of the show when it comes to the bed are the soft furnishings, discussed above. We suggest keeping the bedding very simple to act as a base layer on which to build these more expressive accents. A crisp white cotton sheet always feels fresh — that’s what luxury hotels use, so that should be good enough for home, no? Feel free to choose one with a decorative element like a stripe around the perimeter or a scalloped edge or eyelet detail. The most important part is quality – we recommend high- quality cotton that’s soft and durable like Egyptian or Supima in thread count 300 - 500 (anything higher isn’t noticeable). Natural cotton sheets feel better on the skin, stay cool to the touch, and look crisp on the bed.
